Overview
History
While studying the events and people who have shaped our world, students will continue on their cartography journey as they map their way through World, Medieval, American and Ancient History.
Science
Students will gain an Introduction to Physics, explore the wonders of Biology, and hone in on the intricacies of Chemistry. Fun and interesting experiments will reinforce the lessons they are learning.
Logic
Learning to reason well is a skill that will serve our students well through high school and beyond.
Composition
In composition, students will continue to master persuasive writing using Lost Tools of Writing, but also expand their writing skills to include Comparison Essays, Creative Prompts, Poetry, Judicial Writing, and more. This subject will include conversations about the literature they are reading.
Art/History
Our middle schoolers will begin cultivating an appreciation for beauty as they work with different art mediums, and study the foundations of music.
Math U See:
Algebra 1
Geometry
Algebra 2
Calculus
Students will be enrolled in the math program they need independent on their grade level.
Anthology
Each year students will have an anthology that they will add grade and subject specific items to: maps, definitions, science drawings, art, quotes and more. We want them to walk away with some great memories and information to pull from or reflect on later in life.
Projects
Protocol:
Students grades 9 and up will have etiquette training and attend an end of year event as the culmination of that process.
Team Policy Debate:
In this event, a team of two or more debaters proposes a specific plan to accomplish the goal stated in the resolution while another team of two debaters opposes the plan and/or the resolution. This form of debate simulates argumentation in a legislative body.
Lincoln-Douglas Debate:
Lincoln-Douglas debate involves two debaters arguing for and against a resolution. This debate focuses on the conflicting values of social and philosophical issues by examining questions of morality, justice, democracy, etc. Typically, LD debates concern themselves with deciding whether or not certain actions, or states of affairs, are good or bad, right or wrong, moral or immoral.
Elections:
High school elections give students a hands-on way to experience how government works. By campaigning, voting, and holding office, students learn about leadership, civic responsibility, and the democratic process. These elections mirror real-world systems, helping students understand how citizens choose representatives and make decisions that impact their community.
